1. POLICIES & TARGETS 2. PRODUCTS 3. OPERATIONS 4. REPORTS & FACT 3. OPERATIONS Duni works actively to reduce the environmental impacts of our production and distribution. Table top products are at the heart of the Duni product range and are mainly produced in our own production plants in Europe. In line with the paper industry in general, we have been working actively to reduce environmental impacts, the greatest of which are the use of energy and water, waste water treatment and the dying and printing processes. We are also working to reduce the environmental impact of our logistics, with more efficient modes of transport. All our production units have certified environmental management systems in accordance with ISO 14001 and we are committed to continuous improvement. Our carbon reduction programme has led to a 20% reduction in carbon dioxide footprint from our production from 2008 to 2012. A new bio-boiler at Duni’s paper mill in Sweden (in use as of 2010) uses the mill’s own forest waste for energy production. This reduces the need for both transport and fossil fuels. Recently, hydropower – a green energy source – was introduced into production at the plant in Bramsche, Germany, thereby reducing the need for nonrenewable energy sources. We mainly use water-based, organic dyes and inks. At our production units, efficient waste water treatment systems are in place to take care of all used process and cleaning water.
